Azelaic Acid

Definition: Scientific Name: Heptanedicarboxylic acid Derived From: wheat, rye, and barley.Azelaic acid is anti-bacterial, and is used as a topical treatment for mild to moderate acne, and to clear the bumps, lesions, and swelling caused by rosacea. It is a scavenger of free radicals, and helps reduce pigmentation. Rarely, patients with dark complexions may experience hypopigmentation of skin.
